The Challenge is launching in Spring 2025. If you want to be updated on when the application goes live, please fill out the profile form.

  • Who is eligible to apply for the Thrive Challenge?

Entrepreneurs working in education, edtech, family engagement, or data transparency are encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to improving student and caregiver access to and use of educational data.

  • How is this challenge different from other education innovation competitions?

Unlike other competitions, the Thrive Big Ideas Challenge focuses specifically on empowering students and caregivers with their educational data. We emphasize both innovation and practical application, ensuring that proposed solutions directly impact families and students, particularly those in historically underserved communities.

  • What kind of support do participants receive?

Selected semi-finalists will receive funding (historically around $125,000), participate in a multi-month design sprint, and gain access to coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Winners will receive $1 million each and long-term capacity-building support.

  • Why are community input sessions important?

We believe real impact starts with listening. These sessions ensure that our challenge is responsive to the real needs of students, families, and educators. By gathering insights from diverse stakeholders, we can shape a challenge that is meaningful and effective.

  • What if I can’t attend a community input session? Can I still contribute?

Yes! If you are unable to attend a session, you can still share your thoughts by filling out our community profile form. Your insights will help inform the design of the challenge.

  • Will attending a community input session increase my chances of a successful Thrive Challenge Application?

While takeaways from the sessions may help inform the design of the Thrive Challenge, participation in the community input sessions will have no impact on your application.
